Fall is here! Can you believe it? My favorite season by far. The air is cool and the leaves are changing. The sensational colors on the trees are what makes fall so spectacular! Why not bring a little outdoors in, with this glamorous DIY glittered leaf garland! I just love the beautiful colors and how it shimmers.
Here’s what you’ll need to make a garland of your own:
- Silk leaves
- super fine glitter in fall colors. I used gold, copper and brown
- Elmer’s glue
- Foam brush
- Hole punch
- Twine or ribbon
You can find all of these supplies at your local craft store.
Use a foam brush to cover the surface of a silk leaf with Elmer’s glue. Next, sprinkle glitter over the leaf until it’s completely covered. Shake off the excess glitter and set it aside to dry. Repeat this for all of your leaves. I let mine dry overnight, but you’ll want them to set for at least 3 hours. Once your leaves are dry, use a hole punch to make a hole near the stem end of each leaf. You’ll need one long piece of ribbon or twine for your garland and then several individual lengths to hang each leaf by. The amount you’ll need will depend on how long you want your garland to be and how many leaves you’re using. Thread a length of twine or ribbon through each leaf and tie it to your main garland strand. For added interest, use different lengths for each leaf so they vary in height. You can also string each leaf onto one long piece of material as well. You could even skip the hole punch step and use mini clothes pins to clip them onto your garland. Lots of options!
Whatever route you choose, these easy DIY glitter leaves will make a beautiful addition to your fall décor.
